PROT is built on a simple principle: what you read online is your business, not ours. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the extension. The short version, we don't collect it, we don't store it, and we don't share it. The only exception is the contracts that you follow intentionally, we have to track those for the feature to be functional.
Data & collection
PROT performs all analysis locally in your browser. No data about the pages you visit or the terms you scan is ever sent to our servers or any third party.
- Personal identification information (name, address, phone number)
- Browser history or websites you visit (except followed contracts)
- Terms of Service documents or their content (except followed contracts)
- Analysis results or flagged terms (except followed contracts)
- IP addresses or location data (except followed contracts — this is inferred by nation not local IP)
- Device identifiers, cookies, or tracking identifiers
When you use PROT, everything happens on your machine:
- The extension reads the page content inside your browser
- It compares terms against consumer protection law patterns
- Results are displayed directly to you in the popup
- Nothing is stored on external servers
Privacy First Design: Your device's own security protects your data. PROT never has access to it in the first place.
PROT requests only the permissions it needs to function:
- Content Script Access: To read webpage content and detect Terms of Service text
- Storage: To save your local settings only — things like performance mode or severity filter preferences
- Host Permissions: Required to run the content script on pages you visit
Premium accounts
If you choose to create a PROT account, we collect only what's necessary to manage it:
- Email address for account authentication
- Payment information — processed entirely through certified third-party payment providers. PROT never stores your card details.
- Your analysis history and reports remain on your device only
- We do not track which websites you visit or what terms you analyse
PROT uses third-party services only for specific, limited purposes:
- Payment Processing: For premium subscriptions. No personal data is shared beyond what's required for the transaction.
- Authentication: Supabase handles secure session management for account holders.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

PROT is not directed at individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware of any such collection, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with a new date at the top of this page. Your continued use of PROT after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
